Abstract applies Git-like version control to Sketch design files — branch, commit, merge, and review changes to design files. The merge review shows exactly what changed visually between branches. This was revolutionary when Sketch didn't have collaboration built in. However, Abstract's relevance has declined sharply as Figma's cloud-native collaboration made file versioning less necessary. Teams on Figma don't need Abstract. Best for: teams still heavily using Sketch who need version control for design files.
